Abstract

Chili is a kind of vegetables that include in Capsicum where it’s much needed in society as a food flavored, and it also much cultivated by all farmers in Indonesia because it has high economic worth. In East Nusa Tenggara, especially Timor Island, it has some of the cayenne pepper wich it’s not optimun cultivated, because the cayenne grow up by it self at the yard, woods, and field. The research method used is experiment by used Randomized Block Design (RAK) with a 4 x 3 pattern consisted of four repetitive group. The data obtained were statistically processed used Excel program and used analysis of variance (ANOVA) contined by the mean value difference test used Honest Significant Difference (BNJ) 5%. The results showed that there was an effect of 6 days of storage on the germination of cayenne pepper seeds with the highest percentage (68.3%), 12 days storage treatment with a percentage (55%), 18 days storage treatment with a percentage (53.3%) and the lowest value was the treatment without storage (25%). The germination rate parameter showed the highest percentage, namely the 6-day storage treatment with a percentage (1.22%), the 18-day storage treatment with a percentage (0.99%), the 12-day storage treatment with a percentage (0.90%) and the treatment without storage with the lowest percentage value (0.31 %). The parameter of Maximum Growth Potential (PTM) shows the highest percentage, namely the 18-day storage treatment with a percentage (70%), 6-day storage treatment with a percentage (66.6%), 12-day storage treatment with a percentage (58.3%) more better than the treatment without storage with a percentage value (46.6%). The growth rate, namely stem height and number of leaves at the age of 2-3 weeks after planting in the 6-day storage treatment, 12-day storage treatment and 18-day storage treatment experienced a better growth increase than the treatment without storage.
