Abstract

Rice (Oryza sativa L) is one of the agricultural plants that have an important role for life is a source of a staple food. From around 300.000 they types of plants scatter on earth, each plant contains one or more microorganisms endophytic which consists of bacteria or fungi. Microorganisms endofite can find in various plant networks including, seed, ovula, fruit, stemroots and leaves, but it does not couse disease in the plant. Endophytic bacteria are saprofite that life and associated with a healthy plant network without cousing disease. The purpose of this study was to obtain isolates of endophytic bacteria in rice roots and to determine the characteristics of endophytic bacteria in rice roots. The method used is description qualitative by isolating the indetification of bacteria and biochemical activity by matching these characters with books Bergey’s Manual Of Determinative Bacteriology. From the isolation results obtained 36 bacterial isolates,then purification was carried out so that the results obtained were 20 pure isolates. As many of 20 isolates were identified based on bacterial characteristics microscopically, and biochemical tests included gram staining test, motility test with NA media and catalase test with H2O2 reagent, carbohydrate fermentation. Results based on the test, the isolates suspected that they were close 8 genera bacteria, that is Acetobacterium, Veillo nela, Erwinia, Streptobacilus, Marinococcus, Azotobacter, Corynebacterium, and Salinicoccus. The isolates obtained were tested for their antibiosis ability against Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella thipy. The results show the highest each of wich is isolate P3a-4 as 25 mm and isolates P1b-4 as 22 mm
