Abstract

The value of EMP or Passenger Car Equivalent is a conversion factor set by MKJI in 1997 which is used to convert mixed vehicle flows into passenger car flows, but in each area has different traffic characteristics, both from the composition of passing vehicles, road geometric conditions, the dimensions of the vehicle and the aggressiveness of the riders, especially motorcycles, in maneuvering so that the EMP (MC) value of 0.5 set by MKJI itself is not constant. This study was conducted to determine the value of EMP (MC) which really corresponds to the conditions in the city of Kupang and was carried out at three different locations and has the same classification of road functions, namely 2/2 undivided roads. The motorcycle EMP value obtained is then used to analyze its effect on the performance of each road segment. To find the value of EMP (MC) used the speed method by determining the speed of each vehicle and also the dimensions of each vehicle, while to analyze road performance data required population data, road geometry, traffic volume, and side barriers data. . From the results of the analysis at location 1 jl. Shopping Centers obtained an EMP value (mc) of 0.45 and its effect on intersection performance with a value of 0.85 Degree of Saturation (DS) using the EMP (mc) value of MKJI with a difference of 0.93%. at location 2 jl. Veterans obtained an EMP (mc) value of 0.54 and its effect on intersection performance with a calculated Degree of Saturation (DS) value of 0.55 using the MKJI EMP (mc) value with a difference of 1.16%. And for the location 3 jl. Sam Ratulangi obtained an EMP (mc) value of 0.60 and its effect on the performance of the intersection with a calculated Degree of Saturation (DS) value of 0.60 using the EMP (mc) value from MKJI with a difference of 1.16%.
