Abstract

This thesis is titled The Use of Self Talk Techniques through group guidance for the improvement learners interpersonal communication. The problems discussed in this thesis areare 1) why self talk techniques through group guidance services learners, 2) how the procedures of using self talk techniques through group guidance services improve learners interpersonal communication, and 3) Whether the use of self talk techniques through group guidance services is effective for improving students interpersonal communication.The purposes of this thesis are to find out 1) the reasons why the use of self talk techniques through group guidance services improves the learners interpersonal communication, 2) the procedures of applying self talk techniques through group guidance services to improve learners interpersonal communication,and 3) the effectiveness of the use of self talk techniques through group guidance services for the improvement of learners interpersonal communication. This thesis uses the method of literature studies. The objects of this thesis are self talk techniques, group guidance, and interpersonal communication. The data source used in this thesis is a secondary data. Type of thesis data is qualitative data. The results of the study showed that self talk technique is the right technique to improve learners interpersonal communication because the benefit of self talk techniques itself is related to learners interpersonal communication. Self talk techniques through group guidance are carried out in four stages such as the formation stage, the transition stage, the activity stage which is consisted of showing the illogical and irrational thinking that the learners have, convincing the learners that the thoughts and irrational feelings of the learners can be changed and improved, helping the individuals to develop irrational thoughts with a more positive self-statement and the closing stage of group guidance. Self talk techniques through group guidance is effective to improve interpersonal communication as it isproved by previous relevant research articles to this thesis topic. Based on the results of this study, there are some advises the author could give (1) readers can use this thesis as a reference material to deepen the reader's knowledge, insight, and skills in applying symbolic modeling techniques through group guidance to increase the motivation and achievement,and (2) this thesis is expected to improve the knowledge, insight, and skills of the author in applying symbolic modeling techniques through group guidance to improve the motivation of outstanding students, and (3) for teachers, this could be the guidance and counseling to improve skills in applying self talk techniques through group guidance services for learners improvement.
