Abstract

his study aims to determine the effect of learning independence and parental attention on learning behaviour through creativity as an intervening variable for 270 students of SMP Negeri 14 Kota Kupang in class IX. Samples were taken 73 students using the Slovin formula with an error rate of 5%. The sampling used purposive technique. Collecting data using a questionnaire method with a Likert scale that has needed the validity and reliability requirements. The results of the descriptive analysis showed the average learning independence variable was in the unfavourable category, the parental attention variable was in the unfavourable category and the creativity variable was in the unfavourable category, and learning behaviour variables are in the unfavourable category. The results of the descriptive statistical analysis showed the variables of learning independence, parental attention, creativity, and learning behaviour as unfavourable category. The results of the quantitative analysis are as follows. (1) Learning independence has a positive but not significant effect on creativity. (2) Parental attention has a positive and significant effect on creativity. (3) Learning independence has a positive and significant effect on learning behaviour. (4) Parental attention has a positive and not significant effect on learning behaviour. (5) Creativity has a positive and significant effect on learning behaviour. (6)Independent learning has a positive and insignificant effect on learning behaviour through creativity. (7) Parental attention has a positive and significant effect on learning behaviour through creativity.
