Abstract

The Effectivenessof Using Cognitive Restructuring Techniques Through Group Counseling Services for Reducing Academic Procrastination Behavior In Student. The problems in writing this thesis are 1) Whyis it necessary to apply cognitive restructuring techniques through group counseling to reduce students’ academic procrastination? 2) What are the steps or procedures for applying cognitive restructuring techniques through group counseling to reduce students’ academic procrastination behavior? 3) Is the application of cognitive restructuring techniques through group counseling effective in reducing students' academic procrastination behavior? The purpose of writing this thesis is to find out 1) The reasons for the need to apply cognitive restructuring techniques through group counseling to reduce students' academic procrastination. 2) Steps or procedures for applying cognitive restructuring techniques through group counseling to reduce students' academic procrastination behavior 3) The effectiveness of applying cognitive restructuring techniques through group counseling to reduce students' academic procrastination. This writing is a literature study method with deductive reasoning. The object of study in this thesis is the technique of cognitive restructuring and academic procrastination.The data source used by the author is a secondary data source in the form of books, articles and journals related to this thesis. The type of data in this thesis is the type of qualitative data. Cognitif restrukturing techniques can be use to reduce students’ academic procrastination behavior because through cognitive restructuring techniques, students’ can focus on structuring poor ways of thinking and are abble to awaken themselves and identify existing problems so that thay can change new thinking paterns from bad thinking to good throught. There are five stages of implementing group counseling services using cognitive restrukturing techniques, namely the formation stage, the transition stage, the activity stage by carrying out the steps in the cognitive restructuring techniques (gathering information, helping students’ become aware of their thougt processes, cheking students’ rational thinking processesto evaluate beliefs students’, helping students’ learn to change their internal beliefs and assumptions, rapeat the through process one more time and combine thoucht stopping with simulation, home work, and relaxtation), inverence and closing stages. The effectiveness of cognitive restructuring techniques through group counseling services to reduce students’ academic prograstination behavior received empiricel suppotr from research articles by Lilis in 2019, Imroatul, Purwanto, and Muhammad in 2016, Ilham in 2015, and Agustin in 2016. Suggestions area) For the authors, it is hoped that it will increase knowledge, understanding and skills in applying cognitive restructuring techniques to reduce students' academic procrastination behavior.b) For BK teachers, it is hoped that BK teachers can add insight in using cognitive restructuring techniques through group counseling to reduce students' academic procrastination behavior.
