Abstract

The purposes of this research is to describe the understanding of the concept of systems of linear equations of two variables in terms of students' learning styles. This research is a qualitative descriptive, and the subject of this study is students of SMA PGRI Kupang . The study 8 began with determining the subject of research by using tests of learning styles and see the value rapot semesters 1. The fourth students has the same ability, then the researcher gave the task of problem solving and the interview to each student. Checking the validity of the data using triangulation. Based on the result of data research has obtained; Student with learning styles diverging able to understand and explain the concept of a system of linear equations in two variables and the concept of linear equations in two variables even though there are some questions that are answered not in accordance with what is asked ,can classify and determine the number of notebooks, pencils , apples and mangoes were purchased, and were able to resolve the problem solving tasks as follows; first make the analogy and mathematical modeling and choose to using elimination method and combined method ( method of elimination and substitution ) and able with its own language explaining the steps of the completion of the make the analogy , make up the mathematical modeling by using the elimination method to resolve the problem-solving task in accordance with the steps problem solve. Student with the assimilator learning style are able to understand and explain the concept of a system of linear equations in two variables and the concept of linear equations in two variables can classify and determine the number of notebooks, pencils, apples and mangoes were purchased, and were able to resolve the problem-solving task with a steps, first make analogy and mathematical modeling and chose to use the elimination method and subjects with little difficulty using the combined method particularly using substitution methods using their own language to explain the steps of completion of making analogy , make up the mathematical modeling using the elimination method to resolve the problem-solving task in accordance with the steps completion. Student with the converge learning style are able to understand and explain the concept of a system of linear equations in two variables and the concept of linear equations in two variables can classify and determine the number of notebooks, pencils, apples and mangoes were purchased, and were able to resolve the problem-solving task with a steps, first make analogy and mathematical modeling and chose to use the elimination method and subjects can do the test well using the combined method particularly using substitution methods using their own language to explain the steps of completion of making analogy , make up the mathematical modeling using the elimination method to resolve the problem-solving task in accordance with the steps completion. Student with the accommodator learning style are able to understand and explain the concept of a system of linear equations in two variables and the concept of linear equations in two variables can classify and determine the number of notebooks, pencils, apples and mangoes were purchased, and were able to resolve the problem-solving task with a steps, first make analogy and mathematical modeling and chose to use the elimination method and using their own language to explain the steps of completion of making analogy , make up the mathematical modeling using the elimination method to resolve the problem-solving task in accordance with the steps completion.
