Abstract

The library is a building that is intended to access all information in the form of print and digital. In an area there is usually a regional library that can facilitate the reading needs of the surrounding community. In Malacca District, the local library does not yet have a building capable of facilitating community reading activities. This ultimately reduces the interest in reading in the Malacca Regency. In addition to reading interest, knowledge of the local culture of the Malacca community is also very low. This is also because there are no facilities that can facilitate and introduce local culture to the community. Therefore, the design of the Regional Library of Malacca Regency is expected to increase public interest in reading and knowledge of local culture so that it remains sustainable. The concept used in this design is creative tourism so that people can interact directly in getting to know various local cultures in the city of Malacca. The use of the Vernacular Architectural Transformation approach so that the building can be attractive but still shows elements of local culture in accordance with the function of the building itself.
