Abstract

This researchaims to determine whether or not the effect of problem-based learning model on understanding the mathematical concepts ofthe sub subject of linear one variable equations in class VII students of the SMP 20 Kupang The population in this research were all student at the class VII SMPN 20 Kupang Academic Year 2018/2019, with the sampling technique used was simple random sampling. After drawing, the sample used is class VII C with a total of 31 students The type of this research is quantitative research with an experimental method, one-group pre-test-posttest design. The data used is the value of the pretest and the posttest value of the experimental class. Based on the results of the analysis using the SPSS 22. 0. program before testing the hypothesis, a conditional test was performed, namely the normality test for pre-test data and posttest data. From the analysis results for the posttest data, the sig value is obtained. (2-tailed) = 0,094> 0,05 and Dcount= 0,145 < 0,242 = Dtablethus it was concluded that pretest data were normally distributed. while the posttest data obtained sig. (2 tailed) = 0,120> 0,05 and Dcount=0,121 < 0,242 = Dtable. thus it was concluded that pre-test data were normally distributed. Hypothesis testing using paired sample tests. After the data were analyzed, the sig. (2-tailed) value = 0,000 <0,05 and tcount= 41,813 > 2,042 = ttable. soit can be concluded that there is a significant effect on the problem-based learning model on understanding the mathematical concepts of the subject matter of linear equations, one variable in grade VII students of SMPN20Kupangacademic year 2018/2019 The refore the authors suggest that teachers useda problem-based learning model in learning in the classroom according to the material to be taught.
