Abstract

Discovery Learning model is a learning model which involves students active to solve the problems given by the teachers. The general problem in this research is “How the result in implementing discovery learningmodel in Newtons Law at students of the X science 5 class unven semester of the Application of the discovery learning model of the substance pressure subject matter in eighth grade students of St. Gregory Buraen’s Catholic Middle School in the academic year 2018/2019 ?” The spesific problems are: 1) How about the teachers competence in teaching by implementing thediscovery learningmodel? 2) How about indicator result of students in discovery learning3)How about thelearning result of students by implementing discovery learningmodel? 4) How about the students respon in learning? Based on these problems, the aim of this research is to describe the result in implementing discovery learningmodel of the subject matter of substance pressure in eighth grade students of catholic junior high scohool saint gregorius buraen Kupang. The spesific aims are: 1) To describe teachers competence in managing learningby implementing discovery learning model. 2) Describe indicator result students in learning. 3)Describe thelearning result students by implementing discovery learning model. 4) Describe students respond in learning.The type of this research is descriptive. the subject on this research is teacher/educator (researcher) and students of the X science 5 class unven semester of Giovanni Catholik Senior High School Kupang in academic year 2017/2018 who aggregate 24 students. The Subject of the research (students) has selection with purposive sampling technique, wich mean determination sample technique with certain consideration. The purpose is to get some information about managing learning by teacher/researcher, the indicator result, the learning result, and students respond when they follow managing learningby implementing discovery learning model. The techniques used in the research are observation, test and questionare. In the research, the students material in used. Besides material, the sylabus, lesson plan, students worksheet and questions test are used as well. The instrumen used are observation sheet and result test. The technique used in descriptive (by calculating of rate score, proportional and percentage). This research using One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design.Based on the result of analysis shows that the teachers competence in managing learning in planning of learning material discovery learning modelis 4,00 rate, learning implementing is 3,95 and planning of learning evaluation is 4,00. The result shows good. The indicator result of product 0,88, indicator result of affective is 0,88 and indicator result of psychomotor is 0,88. The result shows good. The result of learning product is 0,87, learning result of affective is 0,88 and learning result of psychomotor is 0,88. The result shows good. The students respond in learning is 83,82%, it is very baik. In learning prosess, the time allocation must be developed and done well.Based on the above research, it can conclud that implementation of model discovery learningin subtance pressurestudents of the eight grade catholic junior highSchool saint Kupang is optimal.
