Abstract

Human life is always connected with the signs (semeion) around him, even himself and the Supreme Being are a "sign" that is interconnected. In the western philosophical tradition, semiotic thinking patterns are inherently visible in the philosophical discourse of philosophers. Every philosophical or theological discourse they do, always has a semiotic power. Likewise, their awareness of the reality of life also grows semiotically, something that is inherent in humans. In the modern semiotic philosophical tradition, Umberto Eco is the most successful philosopher because he was able to "unify" Ferdinand de Saussure's concept of signification and Charles Sanders Peirce's concept of communication. The semiotic model that Eco developed is semiotic with the Petofi model. Scientific pan to explore the richness of meaning in the reality of signs, because it uses two semiotic wings at once, namely signification semiotics and communication semiotics. To relate the semiotic concept of Petofi's model, the cultural object chosen here is Haumonef wood in the culture of the Eban people. Symbolically, Haumonef wood has a rich meaning that needs to be explored further using the semiotic concept of Umberto Eco
