Abstract

This research entitled “An Analysis on The Writings of The Eleventh Grade Students”. This research is done to answer the following questions: (1) are the eleventh grade students of SMAN 1 Amanuban Selatan able to writing text?.(2) what is the ability level of the eleventh grade students of SMAN 1 Amanuban Selatan?. The purpose of this study was (1) to find out whether or not the eleventh grade students of SMAN 1 Amanuban Selatan are able to writing text (2) to find out the writing ablity level of the eleventh grade students of SMAN 1 Amanuban Selatan. The subject of this study was the 11 students of XI science class. The research investigated on the writing text which had been done by the eleventh grade students of SMAN 1 Amanuban Selatan. The data was collected through a writing test short story and legend. This research used qualitative research to design the data. The researcher analyzed the students writing result referring to the three aspects. They were grammar, vocabulary, and mechanics. This study was not only aimed at investigating the students writing ability, but it was also aimed at finding out the students strength and weakness which would be classified into five levels of classifications: Excellent, Good, Fair, Poor, and Very Poor. The result of the test showed that the students ability in writing text was Good (80.7), with additional findings the difficulties faced by students in writing text were grammar, vocabulary and mechanics. For example how to start a story to create a story. Grammar that still uses the simple present tense such as go, come and so on. The use of adverb time such as once upon a time, last year, and many more. Writing mechanics such as punctuation, use of paragraphing capital letters, poor hand writing, and meaning confused.Thus, it is suggested to students to enrich vocabulary so that they could writing well.
