Abstract
Cognitive abilities are abilities that play a very important role in increasing the success of students in solving physics problems, the ability to make descriptions and organize physics curriculum in schools in Indonesia., making cognitive abilities an important aspect in the main thing in the goalsof learning activities. The dimensios of knowledge referred to here are factual, conceptual, procedural, and metakognitive. This study aims to determine the cognitive abilities of students bases on factual, conceptual, procedural, and metakognitive knwoledge on heat material and its transfer at SMAK St,. Gabriel Noemuti. This type of research sample wa students of class XI IPA, totaling 23 students. The data collection technique in the form of essay questions, totaling 10 quuestions. The results showed that student’s factual knowledge had an average score of 88 with the very capable category, conceptual knowledge had an average value of 76 with the capable category, procedural knowledge had an average value of 36 with the poor category, and metacogtive knowledge had an average average of 53 with the category quite capable.
