Abstract
This research is entitled: TEACHER’S STRATEGIES IN TEACHING ENGLISH VOCABULARY TO YOUNG LEARNERS. The study was conducted in order to answer the following questions; (1) What are the teacher’s strategies in teaching English vocabulary to young learner? (2) What are the teacher’s reasons in using the strategies in teaching English vocabulary to young learners? The objectives are; (1) To know the teacher’s strategies in teaching English vocabulary to young learners. (2) To know the reasons of the teacher in using the strategies in teaching English vocabulary to young learners. This research employed descriptive qualitative aproach. The research was conducted in SDK Rossa Mystica. The data of research were obtained through observation and interview. The results show that (1) the teacher’s strategies in teaching English vocabulary to young learners are: question and answer, listen and repeat and listen and do strategies. (2) the reasons of the teacher in using strategies in teaching English vocabulary to young learners are: make the the teacher can evaluate the strength and weakneses of the students, the students more confident in giving their ideas, to improve their pronunciation and listening skill of the students, dare to discuss with others and the teacher mix the activities and know the level understanding of students.
