Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of motivation on employee performance at the Buyasuri sub-district office and to determine the factors that inhibit employee motivation at the Buyasuri sub-district office. This study uses a quantitative approach. Informants totaled 24 employees. Data collection techniques with observation and questionnaires. The data analysis technique used in this research is product moment correlation. The results showed that the influence of motivation on employes performance at the sub-district office of Buyasuri, Lembata Regency was at a "low" level because the product moment correlation coefficient rcount was smaller than rtable (0.329 < 0.404) with a determinant coefficient of 10.8241%. It can be concluded that there is a positive relationship between the influence of motivation on employee performance at the Buyasuri sub-district office, Lembata Regency. The inhibiting factor of motivation in this study is the indicator of working conditions. In this indicator, the two aspects measured are classified as "disagree" because the facilities and infrastructure in the office do not support employees in completing their duties and responsibilities properly and the existing room conditions are not able to create a good and comfortable working atmosphere. Based on the results of the research, the advice given is that motivation needs to be continuously improved for every employee at the Buyasuri sub-district office. For this reason, efforts are needed from the government, especially the subdistrict leadership to carry out continuous and directed guidance to their subordinates as well as the construction of the Buyasuri sub-district office building by completing existing facilities and infrastructure so that they can support employees in completing tasks and responsibilities properly and in good condition. The existing space is able to create a good and comfortable working atmosphere. For further researchers to be able to develop research by adding other variables besides motivation related to employee performance.
