Abstract

This research was written by Theresia Apriliani Trinitas Uma Boro (3118034). Development economics study program under the guidance of Mr. Daniel Taolin, SE.M.Si and Advisor Ms. Emiliana Martuti Lawalu, SE,. ME with the title “The Effect of Economic Growth and Expenditure Per Capita on the Human Development Index in the Province of NTT in 2018-2021". This study aims to: (1) determine the effect of economic growth on the human development index in the province of NTT 2018-2021 (2) to determine the effect of per capita expenditure on the human development index in the province of NTT in 2018- 2021 (3) to determine the effect of economic growth and spending per capita together on the human development index in the Province of NTT in 2018-2021. The data used is secondary data with the type of time series data, namely 2018-2021 in each district in the NTT Province. The data analysis method used in this research is quantitative. The results show that first, economic growth shows a coefficient of 0.005648, meaning that if there is a change in economic growth of 1%, it will affect the human development index of 0.005648. For the variable of economic growth, t arithmetic is smaller than t table, namely 1.773 < 1.98827 so that Ho is accepted and H1 is rejected. Second, per capita expenditure shows a coefficient of 0.002, meaning that if there is a change of 1%, it will affect the human development index of 0.002. For the expenditure variable per capita, t count is greater than t table, namely 12,959 > 1,98827, so Ho is rejected and H2 is accepted. Third, simultaneously the independent variables, namely the variable of economic growth and per capita expenditure, simultaneously affect the human development index. Based on the results of this study, it is recommended that the regional government and the central government make improvements or improvements with a large contribution to the economic sector, namely by increasing GRDP and increasing per capita expenditure. This can be done by spending on the business sector. With this step, it is hoped that the socio-economic recovery of the community can be achieved and can increase people's income so that per capita expenditure will also increase.
