Abstract
This research is entitled "The Contribution of Women Songke Weaving Craftsmen in Improving the Family Economy in Bea Mese Village, Cibal District, Manggarai Regency". The background of this research is a female songke weaving craftsman who is one of the home industry businesses (home industry) by relying on the contribution obtained as one of the fulfillment of the family's economic needs. This type of research is a qualitative research on informants in the field which produces descriptive data that is a description of female songke weaving craftsmen and their contribution to improving the family economy in Bea Mese Village, Cibal District, Manggarai Regency. Determination of informants based on samples taken in this study amounted to 30 people. The informants consisted of 3 hamlets, namely; Ri'i hamlet numbered 9 people, Teber hamlet numbered 10 people, and Weli hamlet numbered 11 people obtained through interviews and in-depth observations. Data obtained through interviews, observations and documentation with informants. The results showed that female songke weaving craftsmen made a very large contribution in meeting the economic needs of the family, the contributions were in the form of: (1) Family Income. The highest income obtained by 5 female informants of songke weaving craftsmen was Rp. 600,000- Rp. 800,000 per piece of cloth, the lowest income earned is Rp. 200,000-Rp. 400,000 as many as 3 informants. Meanwhile, the highest income earned by the husband from the work of a wood furniture maker was 1 informant, amounting to Rp. 800,000-Rp. 1,000,000 per month, while the lowest income earned by the husband from working as a rice farmer was 4 informants of Rp. 400,000 - Rp. 500,000 per month. (2) Consumption (Expenditure). Consumption costs (expenditures) to finance household needs. The highest consumption (expenditure) used by female songke weaving craftsmen was 4 informants with the highest total expenditure of Rp. 1,000,000 while the lowest consumption (expenditure) used by songke craftsmen was 1 informant with a larger expenditure of Rp. 500,000. (3) Savings. The highest savings from female songke weaving craftsmen amounted to Rp. 650,000 and the lowest savings amounting to Rp. 100,000. (4) Savings Institution. The purpose of this saving institution is to save money from female songke weaving craftsmen. In obtaining income, female songke weaving craftsmen also allocate part of the income earned by saving in banks and cooperatives. Savings institutions that are widely used by female songke weaving craftsmen are the Cembes Nai Cooperative with a percentage of 40 percent, BRI with a percentage of 33.33 percent, and BNI with a percentage of 26.66 percent. Women have multifunctional tasks and roles whose duties are not only to take care of their household but also to work as songke weaving craftsmen to help meet household expenses.
