Abstract

An accident can be defined as an incident on the highway that is unexpected and unintentional, involving a vehicle with or without other road users, resulting in human casualties or property loss. Traffic accidents are still the biggest cause of death in Indonesia. Tompello road, is a type of secondary collector road where the average speed is passing through this road segment. Due to the frequent occurrence of traffic jams and accidents on this road section, one way to reduce the number of accidents and congestion is to conduct an analysis of the causes of congestion and traffic accidents. Road safety inspections need to be carried out on the Tompello road in order to identify situations that have a high risk or potential for congestion and accidents on the Tompello road. Road safety inspection (IKJ) is one way to prevent accidents that generally occur due to various factors that cause it together, namely: humans, road conditions, vehicle conditions, and weather. The survey method of data collection was carried out with a Road Safety Inspection survey. From the calculation of the risk value (R) the risk value was obtained for each STA. The lowest average risk value is 32.58 (STA 1+200) and the highest is 63.33 (STA 0+600). It can be interpreted as long as the inspection has a low category value, namely the level of safety deficiency is still considered small or low, but it is necessary to monitor points that have the potential to cause accidents.
