Abstract

The formulation of the problem in this study is (1) How is the description of the business of women culinary traders in the night market of Kampung Solor. (2) How is the income contribution of women culinary traders in increasing household income. The purpose of this study is (1) to find out the description of the business of women culinary traders in Solor Village, Kupang City. (2) To determine the income contribution of women culinary traders in increasing household income. This study uses qualitative data. Sources of data used are primary data using interview guidelines. The population and sample in this study were all female culinary traders in the night market of Kampung Solor as many as 20 people. Data obtained through interviews, observations and documentation with informants. The results of the study indicate that women culinary traders make a very large contribution in meeting the economic needs of their household. The contribution is in the form of (1) household income. The highest income earned by women culinary traders from the sale of their wares is Rp. 10,000,000 – 16,000,000 as many as 3 informants, the lowest income obtained is Rp. 1,000,000 – 5,000,000 as many as 11 informants. While the husband's highest income from working as a private employee is 1,500,000 – 2,000,000 per month as many as 5 informants, while the husband's highest income is the husband of Mrs. Marni Usman of Rp. 1,600,000 – 2,000,000 and the husband of Umi Kalsum's mother, Mrs. Sutiah and Mrs. Mariam are not there because they are divorced and have died. (2) Expenses. Expenditures used by women culinary traders and husbands to meet household needs, including food and drink needs, children's education, electricity and water bills, and other needs. The monthly expenses used are Rp. 1,760,000 – 7,930,000. (3). Saving or saving. The highest percentage of savings for women culinary traders is 55 percent as many as 11 informants, while the lowest percentage of savings for women culinary traders is 20 percent as many as 4 informants. (4) saving institutions. The highest percentage of saving institutions used by women culinary traders is Cooperatives, which is 45 percent, with 9 informants, while the lowest percentage of saving institutions is Bank BNI, which is 20 percent, with 4 people. In accordance with the conclusions above, it is recommended that women culinary traders be smarter in dividing their time between taking care of the household and their business. To the Government to create more business locations for the community so that people can open businesses in accordance with their creativity and innovation.
