Abstract

The church is a facility to support human needs in drawing closer and worshipping God. The church becomes a community, a place, and a means that is used by humans, especially those who are Christians. St. John Baptista Besikama Parish Church is one of the churches in the Diocese of Atambua. In its development, there are problems found in this church related to capacity, inappropriate building functions, buildings that are not responsive to flood disasters. In addition to these problems, there is potential that can be developed such as a large area of the parish area. As a new district is growing the number of users or church parishioners is of course growing. The concept of the church is planned and designed using the concept of Neoclassical Architecture. Neoclassical architecture is an architectural style produced by the neoclassical movement that began in the mid-18th century. In its purest form, the architectural style is a style that is principally derived from the architecture of the classical era, the principles of Vitruvian, and the architecture of the Italian architect Andrea Palladio. The Neoclassical approach taken used architecture in the Greek, Roman, and Gothic eras. This Neoclassical approach is applied to building shapes, openings, ornaments, decorations, roofs, sites, open areas, and colors. Neoclassical architecture was also applied so as to address the problems found at the site. Neoclassical architecture as a pure, honest, and clean form of buildings is particularly applied to churches.
