Abstract
The Gawi Mbama song at the Duke Eo Pati Bo'o Nuwa Bhanda ceremonyis atraditional song from the Ende Lio area, to accompany the Gawi ceremony together inthe village of Golulada.Currently, many people, especially young people, rarely knowthe form of presentation and function of the Gawi Mbama song at the Duke EoPati Bo'o Nuwa Bhanda ceremony.This is because this ceremony is held once a year andnot all villages perform the traditional ceremony, and the lyrics and melodies of Gawi Mbama's songs use the old literary language of the Ende area which is nowrarelyusedin daily communication.The purpose of this study was to determine the formof presentation and function of Gawi Mbama's singing at the Duke Eo Pati Bo'o NuwaBhanda ceremony in Golulada village, Ende Regency.The object of research is the formof presentation and function of Gawi Mbama's song at the Duke Eo Pati Bo'o NuawaBhanda ceremony which is qualitative in nature which describes the formin the formof an activity description.In this study using a qualitative approach. Data collectiontechniques used in this study were observation, interviews, and documentation.Thesubject of this research is the village community of Golulada. The data analysistechnique used in this research is descriptive qualitative.The results of this studyindicate that the Gawi Mbama song is a traditional song from the Ende Lio area as anexpression of community gratitude to Nggae (God) and Embu Mamo(grandmother).Aside from being an expression of gratitude, the Gawi Mbama songisalso one of the tools used by the Ende people to ask for protection and petitions toGodand their ancestors.The Gawi Mbama song is only performed at certain traditional ceremonies, namely at the Duke Eo Pati Bo'o Nuwa Bhanda ceremony or harvest celebration and Sebhi Mbao (thanksgiving for traditional house work).The formof presentation of the Gawi Mbama song at the Duke Eo Pati Bo'o Nuwa Bhandaceremony is sung in the form of a group by forming a circle in a standing positionandholding hands while stomping to the rhythm of the song led by Ata Sodha and combinedwith the Gawi dance participants namely Oro to create a more festive atmosphere that issung without being accompanied by any musical instrument.Gawi Mbama's songis atraditional song that has the following functions, (1) as a means of recreation (2) ameans of expression (3) a means of moral messages (4) a means of religion (5) a meansof education (6) a means of communication.
