Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of knowing what plants are used by the people in Kupang Regency as biofuels and also to provide scientific information about the physicochemical properties of the oil from these plants which are more suitable as biodiesel according to the SNI-7182-2015. The research method used is field research and literature review. The results of field research obtained 5 types of plants used by the people in Kupang Regency as biofuels, these plants are: Kapuk Randu (Ceiba pentandra (L.) Gaertn), Kepuh (Sterculia foetida L.), Jarak Pagar (Jatropha curcas), Kesambi (Schleichera oleosa), and Kemiri (Aleurites moluccanus). The results of literature review on the physicochemical properties of biodiesel from the five types of plants, that have the best physicochemical characteristics of biodiesel according to the SNI-7182-2015 standard are biodiesel from kepuh (Sterculia foetida L.) and biodiesel from kemiri sunan (Aleurites trisperma).
