Abstract

Research has been carried out on free radical and cytotoxic activity against Verbena urticifolia L. and Trichilia schomburgkii C.Dc. This study aimed to determine the free radical and cytotoxic activity of Verbena urticifolia L. and Trichilia schomburgkii C.Dc. plants. The method used in this study was extraction-maceration to separate the chemical components in the extract, as well as a test to determine the antiradical properties using the DPPH (1.1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazil) method, and a cytotoxic test using the BSLT (brine shrimp letalithy test). The results showed that the ethanolic extracts of Verbena urticifolia L. and Trichilia schomburgkii C.Dc. plants had antiradical activity with concentrations of 129.58 ppm and 24.08 ppm, respectively, and cytotoxic activity with concentrations of 111.37 ppm and 79.03 ppm.
