Abstract

This reseach was written by Maria Goreti Upa (31117106),economics and business development study program under the guidance of supervisor 1 Dr.M.E Perseveranda,SE,M.Si and supervisor 2 Emiliana Martuti Lawalu,SE,ME with the title”The Effect of Unemployment Rate Opennes and Education Levels on Poverty Levels in East Nusa Tenggara Province”. The purpose of this study are 1) To determine the Effect of the open unemployment rate on the poverty rate in the Province of East Nusa Tenggara.2) To determine the effect of the level of education on the level of poverty in the Province of East Nusa Tenggara. This study uses quantitative data.The source of the data used is secondary.There are 116 samples in the study and using the eviews 10 application which were analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis methods. The results of this study indicate that : 1) The Open Unemployment Rate partially has a significant effect on the Poverty Level in the Province of East Nusa Tenggara, the average length of schooling partially has a significant effect on the Poverty Level in the Province of East Nusa Tenggara. 2) The Open Unemployment Rate and The Average Length of schooling simultaneously have a significant effect on the Poverty Level in the Province of East Nusa Tenggara. 3) The coefficient of determination (R2 ) of 0,601205 means that 60,12 % of the dependent variable on the poverty level can be explained by independent variables,namely the open unemployment rate and the average length of schooling.While the remaining 39,88 % is explained from the variables not included in this study. Based on the results of the research above,it is expected that the Government will improve the skills of the workforce,establish job training centers,increase employment opportunities,provide scholarships to outstanding students and underprivileged students and hold a 9-year compulsory education program.
