Abstract
In general, the development of cities and the growth of transportation can affect significant changes in population activities, consequently causing problems in the transportation sector not only problems of congestion but also environmental problems such as noise or noise pollution. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of traffic noise and the effect of the number of vehicles on the noise level on Jalan Piet A. Tallo in front of the Poltekkes Kemenkes Kupang campus from several distances, namely 1 meter, 3 meters, and 5 meters. Which is carried out for 6 days on Monday, December 06 to Saturday, December 11, 2021 with a period of time every 2 hours in the morning, afternoon and evening. This research is based on survey/field observation with calculations using the Calculation of Road Traffic Noise (CoRTN) prediction model and also using a Sound Level Meter tool. The results of this study show that the highest noise level is at a distance of 1 meter on Wednesday, December 08, 2021 at 08.30-08.45 WITA (68.23 dBA); at a distance of 3 meters at the highest on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 17.30-17.45 WITA (72.51 dBA); and at a distance of 5 meters the highest noise occurred on Wednesday, December 08, 2021 at 08.15-08.30 WITA (70.76 dBA). This result exceeds the quality standards set for the school area (KepmenLH No. 48 of 1996).
