Abstract

The problem in writing this thesis is how to choose behavior to study the application of a psychological approach to the victory of the Edi-Weng couple (Edistasius Endi, SE and dr. Yulianus Weng) in Komodo District. The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze the behavior of choosing a study on the application of a psychological approach to the victory of the Edi-Weng couple (Edistasius Endi, SE and dr. Yulianus Weng, M. KES) in Komodo District. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Primary data sources are informants while secondary data are documents related to research variables. Data collection techniques used are interviews, observation, and documentation. The data analysis stage was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing stage and then analyzed descriptively qualitatively. The theory used by the researcher in solving the research problem is voting behavior, especially the psychological approach in the form of party identification and candidate orientation. The results of the study indicate that (1) Party identification is indicated by the consideration of the people of Komodo District in choosing the Edi-Weng pair during the 2020 West Manggarai Pilkada because of ideological similarities with the Nasdem, Golkar, PKPI and PBB parties that carry the EdiWeng pair, which is based on Pancasila, Islam as well as religious nationalist, open, democratic, moderate, solid, rooted, responsive, pluralistic, egalitarian, for all Indonesian citizens regardless of ethnicity, religion, race, class, social status and gender become the basis for the community to choose Edi's partner - Weng. (2) Candidate orientation is shown by the consideration of the Komodo District community in choosing the Edi - Weng pair during the 2020 West Manggarai Pilkada because of instrumental qualities in the form of managerial and functional competencies in the economic and health fields as well as social aura factors, emotional aura, inspirational aura and aura social aspects that appear in the EdiWeng Couple.
