Abstract

Medo singing is one of the traditional songs originating from the people of Udiworowatu Village, Keo Tengah District, Nagekeo Regency. The medo song is a mass or group song that is sung in response and while dancing (men) accompanied by music (bamboo) and sung by women and men. Medo singing is only performed by parents (married). Medo singing has existed since ancient times which has been passed down from generation to generation until now. The problem raised in this paper is what is the meaning of the lyrics contained in the Medo song, at the ceremony of making a traditional house in Udiworowatu Village, Keo Tengah District, Nagekeo Regency. This study aims to find out what the meaning of Medo's singing is at the traditional house-building ceremony in Udiworowatu Village, Keo Tengah District, Nagekeo Regency. The object of the research is one resource person who is a traditional elder in Udiworowatu village and plays an important role in the ceremony of making traditional houses. This writing is qualitative, the data to be obtained from this research is based on observation, interview and documentation techniques. The results showed that, Medo Nyanyian at the traditional house making ceremony, that is, every poem sung has a meaning and message conveyed to the community, there is a kinship relationship, brotherhood for mutual cooperation, mutual cooperation between tribes and other tribes in Udiworowatu village in carrying out the ceremony. traditional house construction.
