Abstract
Soil is an important element of a structure under a construction, so the soil must have a good bearing capacity. However, in reality, many soils are found in the field which have very low bearing capacity, so stabilization is necessary. The soil condition in Oebelo Village, East Nusa Tenggara, which is the research location, has expansive clay soil conditions with a montmorillonite content of 75% which is very easy to expand when there is a change in the water content of the soil (Sonbay, 2010). For the construction of roads and buildings on them without stabilizing the soil, the road will not be durable, easy to crack, or collapse. Therefore, special treatment is needed to improve soil stability, one of which is the addition of lime to the subgrade. Lime can increase the bearing capacity of the soil and can fill the voids in the soil, so that the soil tends to be stable. In this study, the additions made were 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% of the dry weight of the soil that was used as a test sample at the PUPR Service laboratory, NTT. The test results showed that the value of the soil bearing capacity and the CBR value of the soil increased with the addition of the amount of lime content with the results obtained. the soil bearing capacity is 5.44 kg/cm2, 15% lime the soil bearing capacity value is 6.11 kg/cm2 and the 20% lime mixture is 6.56 kg/cm2. As for the CBR value, the original soil test result was 5.29%, but referring to the specifications of the Revision 3 of the 2018 Bina Marga, Division 5 cites that the subgrade standard (Sub Grade) is 6% so stabilization is needed on the soil. The addition of 5% lime changes the CBR value by 5.94%, 10% lime by 10.32%, 15% lime by 12.57% and lime by 20% CBR value by 15.74%. Pavement thickness analysis using component analysis method No. SNI 1732-1989-F. The results of the calculation of the thickness of the pavement with the highest lime composition of 20% are D1 = 8 cm, D2 = 20 cm and D3 = 26 cm, while for UR 10 years D1 = 8 cm, D2 = 20 cm and D3 = 36.
