Abstract

Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the raraun musical instrument is commonly used to accompany the bidu elele dance at the time of welcoming kings and weddings. The author’s organology will describe the raraun musical instrument, namely the shape, size, raw materials for making and also the technique of playing the raraun musical instrument. The raraun musical instrument is a dance or singing instrument malaca community created by the ancestors of the we’oe community. The problem in this research is how to make raraun musical instruments and how to play techniques on raraun musical instruments? The purpose of this study is to describe how to make raraun musical instruments and how to play techniques on raraun musical instruments. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach, namely describing the backgraound of the creation of the raraun musical instrument. Data collection was obtained from observations, interviews and documentation with the source of the research data being Mr. Emanuel Fahik the raraun musical instrument craftsman. Based on the result of the study, the raraun musical instrument is a chordophone musical instrument whose sound source comes from the strings. The raraun musical instrument is made of dik wood and has a resonance hole, this instrument is a stringed instrument that is played by strumming using the downstrike and upstrike methods. The strings of this musical instrument usally use nylon strings or clutch veins. The difference between the two strings or strings is that nylon strings are not rusty, softer and thicker, these strings are commonly used on the third strings of the raraun musical instrument. While steel strings such as clutch veins that produce a higher sound, are used on the first and second strings of the raraun musical instrument.
