Abstract
High tomato production occurred in 2020 in January reaching 15-20 tons/ha, then continued to decline until March, namely 5-10 tons/ha, then gradually increased again until June-August the total production level produced 10-15 tons/ha, then decreased until November-December where it only produced a total tomato production of about 10 tons/ha and increased again in January the following year. This is due to the limitations of plant cultivation such as diversity of soil types, disease and weed control, fertilization and post-harvest handling. From the existing problems, it is necessary to create a Web-based expert system application that can help farmers diagnose diseases in tomato plants. This research uses the Certainty Factor method which can work in the future to get a solution that follows the facts. The application is built using the PHP programming language and MySQL database. The result of this study is an expert system that can assist in diagnosing diseases in tomato plants without having to wait for plant experts to arrive. The use of this expert system can assist farmers in diagnosing diseases in tomato plants and can provide information about diseases and symptoms in tomatoes in order to avoid these diseases.
