Abstract

The increase in the volume of vehicles will affect the level of traffic performance, namely the speed of the vehicle is reduced, resulting in congestion. One of the locations that has quite dense traffic is located on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, precisely from the Kanaan Police Post to the 1604 Kodim of Kupang City. On the Jalan Jenderal Surdirman section, there are Social-Economic activities that cause congestion. The side barrier factor is one of the causes of traffic congestion so that it can affect the level of service performance of a road segment. Therefore, this study aims to determine how much influence the side barriers caused by Social-Economic activities on the volume and speed of vehicles, also aims to determine alternative handling in order to optimize road performance that is affected by side barriers due to socio-economic activities. Data were collected in 4 categories, namely: side drag survey, velocity survey, volume survey, and geometric data. The analysis uses the Indonesian Road Capacity Manual method. The results of the study The condition of side barriers that occur on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman at three very high points are: Point I, the maximum weight of side resistance is 12880,4000. Point II, the maximum weight of the side barriers of 1132,900 is very high, which has a very large effect on the performance of the road segment. As for the normal limit or classification is obtained with a value of 330,300. Point III, the maximum weight of the side resistance of 975,400 is very high. The value of the Side Barrier of the three points has a very large effect on the performance of the road segment. Because it affects the increased volume of vehicles and reduced vehicle speed, causing congestion.
