Abstract
In learning chemistry, the guided inquiry approach is designed as a systematic and structured effort that can direct students to design and discover chemical concepts for themselves, in fact, the material will be stored in students' memories longer. Critical thinking is a process of thinking by analyzing problems and then drawing conclusions appropriately. Students who are accustomed to honing their critical thinking skills will be more sensitive and responsive in dealing with existing problems. The objectives to be achieved in this study are to describe the teacher's ability to manage learning, students' critical thinking skills, mastery of knowledge aspects of learning outcomes, mastery of skills aspects of learning outcomes, overall learning outcomes mastery, improvement of critical thinking skills and student learning outcomes aspects of knowledge by applying a guided inquiry approach to acid-base material for Class XI IPA SMA Santo Arnoldus Jansen Kupang for the academic year 2021/2022. The sample in this study was 23 students of class XI IPA SMA Santo Arnoldus Jansen Kupang. This type of research is quasi-experimental. Based on the data analysis and discussion descriptively and statistically, the results of the study can be concluded as follows: (1) Teachers are able to manage learning activities with an average score of 3.82 including good categories. (2) The critical thinking skills of students are 84.30 high category. (3) The learning outcomes of the knowledge aspect (KI-3) in complete learning with an average value of 85.78. (4) Student learning outcomes in the skills aspect (KI-4) in complete learning with an average score of 86.43. (5) overall learning outcomes in complete learning with an average score of 86.30. (6) Students' critical thinking skills in learning increased with an average N-Gain of 0.71 in the high category. (7) Student learning outcomes in the aspect of knowledge in learning increased with an average N-Gain of 0.72 in the high category.
