Abstract

A matter to be taken this thesis is what life is like for scavengers in TPA Alak,Alak District Kupang City? The theories used in this study are characteristics of scavenger that include a.Demographic characteristics,b.social characteristics,c.economic characteristics The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method.Primary data sources are informants,while secondary data are documents that relate to research variables.The data collection techniques that are done are interviews,observations,and documentation.Based on research on the lives of the scavengers at the final dump site (TPA) Alak The Alak city district of the mussel is,first of its demographic characteristics those that include areas from which the scavengers come,work systems,home intensity.These three characteris of the economy include daily living expenses,needed living expenses,daily income/week/month,scavenger hours Studies have concluded that first by demographic characteristics it is known that scavenger is mostly 40 years old,of the male sex with married status of more than 20 years and of the family of 5 with long lived to 10 years,second according to the social characteristics of the scavenger.Operating at the end site (TPA) alak sub-districtAlak city alak dailyworks more than 1 km in the scavenging partnership system to first sort out its output before selling to the site,and the living conditions of the third home according to the characteristics of the economy.They had no side jobs because they relied solely on scavenging.
