Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is a direct effect or indirect effect of student conditions and the use of facebook on academic achievement through the achievement motivation of students of mathematics education program class of2016 CatholicUniversityWidya MandiraKupang academicyear 2017/2018 which amounted to 49 people. The data used in this research are GPA and questionnaire data. Methods of data analysis of this study using path analysis with a significant level of 5%. The data obtained were analyzed using SPSS programversion22.0. Pursuant to result of research, that is by path analysis show that student condition have a significant effect to student achievement with effect value equal to 0,202. This illustrates the condition of the student can determine student's academic achievement. The use of facebook has no effect on student achievement directly due to the significant value of 0.127 is greater than the significant value set that is 0,05. Motivation has a significant effect directly on academic achievement with an effect value of 0.084. This illustrates that motivation is proven to measure and improve student academic achievement. In addition to the indirect effect, the results of research show that the condition of students does not have a significant effect on student achievement through achievement motivation, it is known from the significant value obtained by 0.067 greater than the significant value set by the researchers that is equal to 0.05. This illustrates the achievement motivation does not mediate the effect of student conditions on student academic achievement. the use of facebook effect indirectly to student achievement through achievement motivation that is equal to 0,11. This shows that theachievement motivationis able to mediate theeffect offacebook usage on studentacademicachievement. So it can be concluded the condition of students and achievement motivation directly affect the academic achievement while the use of facebook indirectly affect the academic achievement of students of mathematics education program class of2016 CatholicUniversityWidya MandiraKupang academicyear 2017/2018
