Abstract

Currently the city of Kupang has the need for facilities and infrastructure that support residents to reach their destination. One component that plays an important role in supporting the needs of public transportation is public transportation. The bus stop is a transportation infrastructure that supports the performance of public transportation (Siti, 2010). With the existence of a bus stop, transportation actors who use public transportation will be safer and more comfortable. In addition, the use of bus stops will prevent public transportation from stopping at any place that can interfere with the smooth flow of traffic. The purpose of this study is to determine the need or provision of shelters in the Kuanino Corridor based on the characteristics of demand and determine the management strategy of the bus stops in the Kuanino Corridor based on the characteristics of the design and layout of the shelters. This research was carried out directly at the location, the data needed in the form of primary data and secondary data, primary data, namely data on the location of the bus stop and condition data. Based on the characteristics of the stop layout and design in the Kuanino corridor, it is categorized as moderate at stop 2 (in front of the Koinonia Church) and bus stop 3 (in front of Bank Mandiri), while at stop 1 (in front of the Raja Motor Bengkel) and at bus stop 4 (in front of RST Wirasakti) it is categorized as bad. . Based on demand characteristics, the determination of the location and number of bus stops in the Kuanino corridor is not optimal.
