Abstract

This study is entitled “An Analysis on the Translation from Indonesian Language into English of the Eighth Grade Students of SMP Negeri 2 Kupang in the School Year 2014/2015”. It was conducted to answer the following questions: (1) is the translation made by the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Kupang in the school year 2014/2015 good or bad? (2) what are the sorts difficulties faced by the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Kupang in translating text from Indonesian Language into English? To answer those questions above, the writer uses descriptive method. This method is used to describe or explain the students‟ translation especially from Indonesian Language into English. The subject of this study was the students of class VIII C of SMP Negeri 2 Kupang in the school year 2014/2015. The total number of the students is 36. In collecting data, the writer used translation test. The test consists of 3 paragraphs with 10 sentences written in Indonesian Language to be translated into English. Based on the analysis of this research the writer concluded that the students of class VIIIC produce the Good translation. The content of students‟ translation is appropriate as that of original text indicated by structure of the grammatical from Source Language into the Target Language.They translated the text that follow the meaning, as well as the use of appropriate their dictionary. Whereas, there are some students produce Bad translation because their translated the text follow the meaning and their used their dictionary. Based on the analysis into the of this research the writer gives some suggestion particularly for the English teacher; in the future, the teacher should give more translation exercise to help students‟ skill in translating from Indonesian Language into English to train the students‟ speed in translation process.
