Abstract
The main problem in this research is how the students' ability in solving word problems subject of two systems of linear equations variable on class VIII semester odd SMP Country 1 Rote West Sea to year 2014/2015 teachings. The purpose of this research is to describe the students' ability to complete the story about the subject of a system of linear equations in two variables semester of eighth grade students of SMP Country 1 Rote West Sea to year 2014/2015 teachings. The benefits of this research is to become an input for teachers in teaching in order to implement learning activities can take certain measures to enhance the students' ability in solving word problems. This research was conducted at the eighth grade students B semester ganjil SMP Country 1 Rote West Sea to year 2014/2015 teachings consisting 24 students, and which become subjects in this study were 6 students. The results showed that students' ability to complete the story on the subject matter of a linear system of two variables is not good because the students do not understand the purpose of matter, can not change the sentence into a sentence about math and still difficulty in performing calculations involving variables. Based on these results, it is expected that teachers of SMP the study of mathematics west 1 Rote Sea further improve ability students in solving word problems the subject of a system of linear equations with two variables many provide practice questions, especially on such material.
