Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know more the way students think to solve the problem of mathematics on subject of Pythagoras is looked from the emotional intelligent. So, the problem statement is “How is the students process of thinking in solving mathematics on the subject of Pythagoras is looked from the emotional intelligent. This kind of research is qualitative that have the quality of qualitative descriptive. The subject of this research is from two students in class VIIID SMP N 2 Kupang as the target of research. The collective data is from: solving problem, interview, documentation, and triangulation. The method of analysis data by using reduction data, level of classification, and the conclusion. The result of research show that the process of thinking in solving the problem at the subject RH and MR as followed: the subject of RH in understanding the problem and make the subject could tell the understanding on the question and could determine things that is known and asked on a good question in oral or written. At the aspect of planning the solving, could make and make a relationship the illustration of picture that is formed with the knowledge concept that they have to solve the problem with their own way. At the aspect of doing the solving plan, could analyze and explain back the steps in solving the problem that has been made well orally or written. At the aspects of recheck, could convince and explain that the solving problem that is used is already true and have already answered the question. Meanwhile on the subject of MR in aspect of understanding the problem also could tell the through the question along with establish things that is known and asked on questions. At the aspect of planning the solving, it could make an illustration of picture fasten upon with the knowledge that they have to solve the problem by their own. At the aspect of doing the solution, could analyze the solution steps of question and explain in back the solution of the questions. At the aspects of recheck, could recheck back the solution steps with the ability to convince and explain that the solving problem that is used is already true and already answered the question. Based on the description above, both subject RH and MR could fulfill the four solving problem indicators in TPM I and TPM II.
