Abstract

This research aims to describe students mathematical problem solving skills reviewed from differences in cognitive and gender styles. This type research is a qualitative. The student of this research was students of the class IXB Junior high school 20 Kupang. The four student were based on the test of the Group Embedded Figures Test (GEFT), namely FD men, female FD, male FI and female FI. Data colletion techniques used problem solving task, and interview. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this research were obtained: (1) the male FD student were able to solve promblems in sufficient categories, (2) the female FD student were able to problems in the less categories, (3) male FI student were to solve problem or meet all indicators, (4) female FI student were able to solve problems or were meet all indicators.
