Abstract

Discovery Learning is one of the models that allow learners directly involved in teaching and learning activities so as to use the mental process to find a concept or theory that is being studied. In other words it can be more easily memorized, and easily transformed in the face of the complexity of life. The main objective of this research is to describe the results of the application of the discovery learning model of simple plane matter on learners of VIII K class SMP Negeri 1 Kupang Tengah academic year 2016/2017. The specific purpose of this study can be described as follows: 1) how the ability of educators to manage learning by applying the model of discovery learning. 2) How the completeness indicator of learning outcomes by applying the model of discovery learning. 3) How the completeness of learning outcomes by applying the model of discovery learning. 4) How the response of students to the learning activities by applying the model of discovery learning. This research is a descriptive research with its subjects are a teacher and students of class VIII K SMP Negeri 1 Kupang Tengah academic year 2016/2017 amounting to 24 people. The learning device used are the syllabus, lesson plan, teaching materials and worksheets learners. The techniques used to collect data in this study are the observation, testing, and questionnaires. The instruments used in this study was the observation sheet managing learning, achievement test and a spreadsheet of responses learners. techniques of data analysis in this research is descriptive analysis by calculating average values, percentages, and proportions. Based on the results of descriptive analysis, the application of the model of discovery learning is optimal for the simple plane matter on learners of VIII K class SMP Negeri 1 Kupang Tengah school year 2016/2017 amounting to 24 people. The detailed as follows: the ability of teacher in managing the learning activities by applying the model of discovery learning that includes lesson planning, implementation and evaluation is good categories. The four indicators of learning outcomes prepared is complete. The results learning of students in general completed. The responses of learners towards learning implementation of discovery learning are very good category.
