Abstract

; parents' socioe-conomic status, learning achievement, and learning motivation, either partially or simultaneously. This study has three problems which are formulated in the form of questions. (1) What is the description of students 'interest in continuing their studies to HLE, parents' socioeconomic status, learning achievement, and learning motivation of Class XI students of Muhammadiyah High School Kupang? (2) Do parents' socioeconomic status, learning achievement, and learning motivation partially have a positive and significant effect on the interest of Class XI students of Muhammadiyah High School in continuing their studies to HLE? (3) Do social economic status of parents, learning achievement, and learning motivation simultaneously affect positively and significantly the interest to continue the study to HLE of class XI students of Muhammadiyah High School? The population of this study were 67 students of XI of Muhammadiyah High School in the academic year of 2019 – 2020. Due to the number of the population was under 100 then all of them became the sample. The data were collected through questionnaire consisting of 27 items of statements. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. Statistical descriptive analysis reveals the following facts, the variable of students’ interest in continuing their studies to HLE was categorized as good with an indicator achievement of 70.6%. The parent's socioeconomic status variable was in the good category with an indicator of 70.4%. The learning achievement variable was categorized as good with an indicator achievement of 72.2%. The learning motivation variable is in the good category with the indicator achievement of 69.1%. The result of inferential statistic analysis showed that partially the variable of social economic status of parents positively and significantly affected the students’ interest to continue their study to HLE with the ttest of 4.940 and significance value of 0.000 < α 0.05. The variable learning achievement positively and significantly affected the students’ interest to continue their study to HLE with the ttest of 2.286 and significance value of 0.026 < α 0.05. The variable learning motivation positively and significantly affected the students’ interest to continue their study to HLE with the ttest of 2.057 and significance value of 0.044 < α 0.05. Simultaneously the independent variables positively and significantly affected the students’ interest to continue their study to HLE with the Ftest of 16.146 and significance value of 0.000 < α 0.05. The contribution of the three independent variables was 43.5% and the rest, 56.5%, is determined by other variables that are not involved in this study. Going in line with the result of the study some suggestion is suggested. Although the social economic status of parents was not high, the students are still hoped to have an interest to continue their study to HLE hoping others sources of fund, like the various kinds of scholarship prepared by the government and private institutions.
