Abstract

Many students view mathematics as the most difficult and boring subject, so students have no interest in learning it and learning outcomes are low. The basis of the problem in this study is the assumption that if the use of Microsoft PowerPoint is optimized in learning, it will improve students' mathematics learning outcomes. This study aims to determine the use of Microsoft PowerPoint and to determine students' learning outcomes in mathematics. Where the ultimate goal is to determine the effect of using Microsoft PowerPoint on students' mathematics learning outcomes. The method used in this study uses a sampling technique using a cluster sampling technique (as a group). In this study there were two variables, namely Microsoft PowerPoint as the independent variable and mathematics learning outcomes as the dependent variable. The learning outcomes test instrument uses multiple choice questions that have been validated. The results of the hypothesis test through the Samples Test showed a significance value of 2 (two) directions (t-tailed) of 0.002 <0.05, so it was concluded that there was an effect of using PowerPoint media on student learning outcomes in social Arithmetic material. Although not the only variable that can affect learning outcomes, the use of PowerPoint media by teachers can be an alternative in an effort to increase students' interest and motivation in learning so that their learning outcomes can improve.
