Abstract

In the beginning were relations. This relation exists with humans and that relation an sich affirms the way of existence—by what Husserl calls lebenswelt (life-world) and what Schutz calls the social-world—of humans. Therefore, human existence is coexistence. This means that human beings exist together with others. As social beings, humans cannot escape encounters with each other. It's just that this reflective statement then becomes a problem when every human encounter with another human being actually goes off the rails. In a sense, relationships that actually work well are often damaged by mere badness. Because it is not so common for us to think that besides humans creating close relationships with other people, they are also infiltrated by certain interests and even malicious intentions. There are so many crime phenomena that can be detected and witnessed in the daily situations of humans, one of which is the phenomenon of human trafficking. Human trafficking is a form of modern trafficking that not only deprives victims of human rights, but also makes victims vulnerable to abuse or physical torture and forced labor so that various impacts can be caused such as psychological trauma, and disability and even death. This crime of human trafficking occurs in a global scope, including Indonesia itself. Observing the empirical reality of the crime above, the author suspects that this humanitarian problem occurs when humans (traffickers) act by prioritizing greed, ego alias when humans make their relation partners (with other people; victims) as objects that can be used for the sake of gratification or mere self-interest. In the midst of this stagnation, the philosopher Martin Buber, who is famous for his phenomenal work I and Thou (I-Thou) shocks the philosophical public through two modes of relations: "I-It", and "I-You". Through the pattern of the "I-It" relation, there is a relation that runs as subject-object. Where "I" always sees the other as a mere object. Meanwhile, the “I-Thou” relation pattern necessitates interpersonal or inter-group relations that run dialogically and reciprocally. There is a dimension of equality there. Through this pattern of "I-You" relations, it is hoped that humans will be able to awaken their essence as social beings who must truly respect, respect and be responsible, not destroy it.
