Abstract

HOTS is very important for prospective mathematics teacher students and good HOTS mastery needs to be possessed by prospective teacher students so that they are able to guide their students in developing HOTS later, for this reason the purpose of this research is to describe how students' thinking processes in solving HOTS-oriented math problems The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative with the subjects being 3 students and semesters II, IV and VI which has the highest IPK. The instruments used were validated test questions and interviews. The results of this study indicate that the three subjects were able to complete the three HOTS indicators, namely analyzing, evaluating and creating. the three subjects were able to choose the right completion method and were able to check or re-check the work process correctly, the three subjects were also able to plan an appropriate and coherent solution according to the problem, were able to produce the existing elements into a single unit and the three subjects were able to take make decisions or conclude correctly, so that it can be concluded that students' thinking processes in solving HOTS questions are very good.
