Abstract

This study discusses the Comparative Concept Understanding Difficulty Analysis. This study aims to find out how difficult it is to understand the concept of comparison and to find out what factors make it difficult to understand the concept of comparison. This research is a qualitative descriptive research that will provide an overview of the difficulties experienced by students in understanding the concept of comparison. Data collection techniques used are in the form of problem solving assignments and interviews. The questions used in the concept comprehension difficulty test are in the form of comparison questions totaling 1 question. The interview aims to find out the difficulty of understanding the concept of comparison. Based on these data, it was found that the JA subject could not restate a concept, had difficulty developing necessary or sufficient conditions for a JA subject concept as well as difficulty using and utilizing and selecting certain operating procedures. Meanwhile, the YM subject experienced difficulties in using and utilizing and selecting certain operating procedures. And the KL subject also had difficulty using and utilizing and selecting certain operating procedures. It was proven that students' difficulty understanding concepts was high and the factors that led to students' difficulty understanding mathematical concepts consisted of two factors, namely external factors and internal factors.
