Abstract

Weaving and pottery are traditional crafts produced in every region of Indonesia, especially in the district of Malaka. Every year the production of woven fabrics and pottery in Malaka district continues to increase. However, there are still obstacles, namely the absence of an information system that can help the process of spreading it so that there is still a lack of interest from the wider community. Geographic Information System is a kind of software that can be used to enter, store, manipulate, display, and output geographic information [1]. For this reason, a web-based geographic information system is needed that can provide information about the location of woven and pottery crafts in Malacca Regency by displaying travel routes that can be taken by interested parties. The purpose of this research is to build a web-based Geographic Information System that can assist in finding information and the location of handicrafts in Malaka Regency quickly and precisely. The result of this research is a website that contains geographic information about traditional crafts in Malacca District. In this case, the authors hope to be able to provide the reader with a good foundation in developing systems related to geographic information systems so that the next related research can produce a more optimal system.
