Abstract

The research motivated by the interest of the younger generation in traditional music newdays which is decreasing. They consider traditional musical instruments to be ancient musical instruments. The research was conducted on class XI students at SMKN 1 Borong. The problem formulated is how the process and presentation of music playing to accompany the raga sae dance. The goal is to be able to find out the process of playing and presenting musical rythms to accompany the raga sae dance for class XI students of SMKN 1 Borong. The approach used in this research is a qualitative approach with the research method used is the field action method. The learning method used are imitation and drill, which are exemplified directly by the researcher and followed by the research subjects and are carried out repeatedly. The resecarh was carried out in seven meetengs through the stages, namely the initial sstage where the researcher introduced dance accompaniment music, divided students according to the role of their repective musical instuments, made a meeteng schedule. In the core stage, five meetings were held to learn musical accompaniment patterns. And the final stage, the exercise is carried out together with the raga sae dancers. The result showed raga sae dance up to its presentation accompanying the raga sae dance in class XI student of SMKN 1 Borong. Obtained quite good results. This can be a lesson for future students to be able to develop and work on playing traditional musical instruments, especially in accompanying traditional dances.
