Abstract

This study was conducted to determine how community participation in the development of drinking water infrastructure in Keluwain Village, by looking at the supporting factors and inhibiting factors of community participation in the implementation of development. This research uses the theory of Participation. To achieve this goal, qualitative research methods are used by describing data descriptively, documentation, interviews using qualitative descriptive analysis techniques. The results of this study show that community participation in the development of drinking water infrastructure is not good enough, namely there are two things that influence. First, there is no public awareness to participate from the planning process to the evaluation. In addition, the involvement of community participation in development is not good enough or can be seen in the form of self-help either in terms of energy or in material form. Second, the development of drinking water infrastructure in Keluwain Village is influenced by supporting factors including community support and donations as well as factors of community willingness and awareness itself. While the inhibiting factor is due to the low level of education and community understanding and the existence of village funds so that many people think that there is no need for community participation in development because village funds have supported all development.
