Abstract
This research is related to the analysis of students' critical thinking skills in solving SPLDV questions in terms of cognitive style. This study aims to determine the critical thinking skills of grade VIII students of SMPN 5 Kupang on the subject of Linear Equations of Two Variables. The subjects in this research were 2 class VIII students of SMPN 5 Kupang. The determination of the research subject was obtained through discussions with the mathematics teacher so that two students were obtained as subjects in this study. The two subjects were taken by one person each from each of the Field Independent and Field Dependent cognitive styles. Data collection was carried out through critical thinking tests and interviews. The results of the study showed that students' critical thinking skills in solving SPLDV questions in terms of cognitive style of class VIII SMPN 5 Kupang, the subject matter of the two-variable linear equation system was as follows: Field Independent (FI) subjects in the questions fulfilled the four indicators of critical thinking ability, namely interpretation indicators , Analysis, Evaluation, and Inference, while Field Dependent (FD) subjects in the questions fulfill three of the four indicators of critical thinking, namely indicators: interpretation, analysis, and evaluation.
