Abstract

The implementation of pianica music ensemble learning at UPTD SMP Negeri 7 Kupang has not achieved good results. One of the causes is the use of inappropriate learning methods. The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of applying imitation and drill methods in piano music ensemble learning activities. This research uses a qualitative approach; while the research method is the classroom action research method. Data collection techniques are observation, interviews and documentation. Next, the research data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis techniques. Descriptive statistical analysis was carried out on the results and learning activities in the pre-research cycle and final research cycle phases. The pianica music ensemble learning process was carried out in 8 meetings using imitation and drill methods, as well as 2 evaluations. The first stage of evaluation was carried out after the 4th meeting and the results evaluation was carried out after the 8th meeting in the form of a performance. The research results show that the imitation and drill methods are effective for teaching pianika music ensembles using the Garuda Pancasila song model with evidence of learning results that 1) in the pre-cycle phase, out of a total of 15 students, only 4 students or 23% got a score > 70; while 11 students scored < 70 then managed to get a score > 70. When seen from the student activity scores, in the pre-cycle phase it shows The average student learning activity score was 2.46 in the "Low" category; After implementing the imitation and drill methods, the students' learning activity scores increased to 4.01 in the "High" category.
